I know this is not an issue with the Dell D6000, or the external monitors, or their signal cables, or a DisplayLink driver, because when the lid is open, everything is working just fine. Of course, this is a problem because I can’t work when my monitors lose their signal every 2 minutes. Also, I can see that the laptop monitor is still shown in the display’s arrangement, even though the lid is closed. Every couple of minutes they lose their signal, and it takes them a couple of minutes to get it back. I prefer using only the external monitors, so I need it closed.Īs soon as I close the lid, the 2 external monitors star behaving very strange. The problem starts when I close the lid of the laptop. I downloaded the latest Catalina DisplayLink drivers, the desktop is extended and everything is working just fine. I have thought about plugging in the power adaptor, but my MacBook is being already getting power from the docking station, so not sure what damage that could do if I have two sources of power going to it.Ĭlosing the lid causes issues with external monitors I have a Dell D6000 Universal Docking station and I connected it to my MacBook Pro 13’ 2020 (Four Thunderbolt 3 ports). Has anyone got any ideas? Currently I'm having to keep my MacBook open next to me and turn the brightness down to zero, as I don't really want it on when I'm not using it. I have updated the firmware on the D6000, added the latest DisplayLink Drivers for MacOS, reset the SMC, tried the Amphetamine app, set my screen to never go off or go in to sleep mode and still the issue persists. I have pretty much tied everything suggested on the internet. When I keep the lid open this does not happen. I press a key on the keyboard or wiggle the mouse and the screens come back on, but my MacBook is on the locked screen meaning I have to log back in? This suggests to me that the MacBook has gone in to sleep mode. The issues I'm having is when I connect the MacBook to the docking station and close the lid, everything is fine for about a minute, then the screens go blank. My MacBook itself has a Magic Keyboard and Mouse connected to it and is running the latest version of Catalina. I currently have a MacBook Air 2019 connected to a Dell D6000 Docking Station, this in itself is connected to two Dell P2319H monitors via DP cables. I'm hoping someone can help me as I've run out of ideas. ![]()
